This summer we will have been married 59 years and we ask ourselves, “How did we get where we are today?”
It has been a fairly smooth trip, when compared to others who found much trouble along the way. We’re not saying we had no troubles! We are saying we had a strong commitment to our marriage and to each other which helped us to work through the troubles we encountered. In other words, we had love! We found our love growing with the passage of time. We loved each other more and more as we matured. We had a precious daughter in our 5th year of marriage and she brought us so much joy. She made our little family complete and we found our love abounding even more.
We moved to Redding in 1966. And, eventually, the biggest and best adventure we could ever imagine began about 20 years later when Jim finished reading the Old Testament. We decided to go to church that Easter Sunday and thus began our journey to becoming Christians. Our trust and faith grew and so did our love for God and each other. We know God was leading us to Redding Reformed Fellowship and what a blessing it has been!
Now to answer our question, “How did we get where we are today?”
We know, without a doubt, God had His loving hand on us the entire trip! He was loving us, watching over us and protecting our little family through any and all troubles we encountered, even before we really “knew” Him. He increased our love for each other and, most importantly, for Him. We are praising and loving Him forever!
