The most important movement in the service is the movement from God’s calling his people to worship, to recognition of our need for a savior, to the good news of God’s gracious provision of his son as that savior, to God speaking to us through the preaching of his word, and finally being dismissed with the assurance that God will bless us and keep us.
We have but few actual physical gestures, although everything in the service is done in a purposeful way, drawing attention to some important aspect of that part of the service, for example praying is generally done with bowed heads, showing humility before the Lord; and singing is usually done while standing, since it is directed toward God in a corporate, congregational manner.
