True spirituality, from a biblical perspective, is quite different. It derives from, and is nourished by God’s word, it is centered on Jesus Christ, and is facilitated by the Holy Spirit as he works through the regular means that God has provided. Spirituality refers to being spiritually mature; led by the Spirit through the word, increasing in holiness and obedience to God’s command, and demonstrating the love of Christ and the grace of God in everyday life for the glory of God.
The whole idea of “spirituality” is difficult to nail down. What it means today, more often than not, is an undefined, but definitely non-Christian, sense or experience of transcendence or the sacred. It can be achieved through many different means, from drugs to navel-gazing.
